Principal's Message

Larry Rook, Principal
Ontario Jaguars,

We are underway with our distance learning schedule and despite these challenging times, our students are off to a great start to the new school year. Our commitment to ensuring your students are successful remain at our core, and stronger than ever. I commend our students, teachers, and families for adjusting to such unique circumstances in our schools. Despite all the uncertainties, our strive for excellence together remains strong.

I challenge students to remain focused on their success throughout this school year. I recognize that this year presents many new challenges and that you may become overwhelmed, rest assured that we too are learning and growing alongside you. As we are learning how to navigate our new Learning Management System, Canvas, we need to keep in mind that when learning new programs, it will take time to build confidence and comfortability. As you know, our primary instructional resources thus far have been Canvas and Zoom. I know some students and parents have had trouble accessing these programs, we will continue to provide support for students and parents by phone or in-person when necessary. Please make sure to call in or take advantage of our help desk here at Ontario HS.

We are very fortunate to have incredible students, teachers and families that make us an immensely strong community as we are all Stronger Together. I encourage you to stay connected to your son/daughter’s high school journey. If you have not already done so, please obtain a Canvas pairing code from your student in order to stay connected to your student’s academic progress.

Due to the distance learning model our traditional bell schedule has changed. Parents please review our distance learning schedule here and ensure students are engaging in learning tasks daily.

Our teachers offer support throughout each day and in the afternoon between the hours of 1:45 – 2:35 pm via Zoom. I encourage students to reach out to your teachers through Canvas to schedule a time to receive tutoring help.

This school year we remain focused on continuing to prepare students for college and career. Please refer to the CA Dashboard to see our school's accomplishments about student achievement and college and career readiness. Our graduation, A-G, and freshmen on-track rates continue to increase, ultimately indicating that our Jags graduate with opportunities and have options upon graduation.

Thank you for your continued support and for partnering with us to bring about the best educational experience for our young Jaguars. Please follow me on Twitter @OntarioHS and on Instagram @ontariojaguars to stay connected to our school community!

We are Stronger Together!
